Predator in the Yard

This guy was in the yard around 7:30 this morning. You can't tell from the photo but he looked a bit smaller than a crow. He finally got tired of me taking his picture and left. He's not in the picture here but Scratch(squirrel) is on the opposite side of the tree trunk across from the bird. The bird apparently wasn't after him, maybe the squirrel was a bit big. The pics are a little dark because it is overcast this morning. Click pictures to enlarge images.

This one is a little blurry... I used the digital zoom to get closer.

Scarf Joint Jig Details

Here are a few more details of the scarf joint jig. and a couple of pics so you can see how the saw sits in the jig. I don't think the thickness of either piece of plywood matters as long as the top piece is thick enough to act as a guide for the saw. See previous post for more pictures of the jig.

Moving In

I don't want to spend anymore time updating to the new Wordpress version and trying to figure out what is wrong, troubleshoot or debug code. So here we are at our new home, part of the google family. So for a little while I will be moving the blog over from the old blog here. 100webspace.net has been a great host and free, I just have other things to do.

Scarf Joint Neck Jig

This is a simple jig for a Skil saw to make a scarf joint for a cigar box guitar neck. I have access to a chop saw but it would not cut a lower angle than about 30 degrees and I do not currently have the space for a table saw. Works great!

Here's a shot with a 1"x2"x3' poplar stick in position. The stick has not been measured yet it is just in place to show where it goes.
